Boat polishing

Every boat we polish is assessed on an individual basis to ensure the most effective process and the best final finish. We never use a "one-size-fits-all" approach.Depending on your boat’s condition, we generally offer two core polishing services:

1. Two-Step Machine Polish & Seal

This is the perfect option for a mid-season freshen-up or for boats that are already regularly maintained.

• The Process: We start with a medium-to-light machine polish to clean up the surface.
• The Finish: We then apply a premium wax, leaving a protected, high-gloss shine.

2. Multi-Step Restoration Polish

Designed for boats with moderate to severe oxidation, fading, or cloudiness. Because every boat is unique, the number of steps will vary based on our inspection. Here is a general overview:

• Heavy Cutting: We use heavy-to-medium compounds and pads to strip away deep defects and harsh oxidation.
• Refining: We follow up with lighter polishes and finer pads to remove any compounding marks and pull out a deep, mirror-like clarity.
• Protection: We lock in the revived finish with a premium layer of sealant wax for long-lasting protection.

With all of our machine polishing services, our priority is always to preserve the life of your gelcoat or paint by avoiding any unnecessary, aggressive cutting.

We machine polish both gelcoat and painted boats. While the overall goal is the same, the actual processes differ significantly based on your boat’s surface. Marine paint is generally much thinner and softer than a factory gelcoat. This means painted surfaces require a significantly gentler touch—especially when it comes to heavy cutting and compounding. 

To ensure the safety of your finish, we perform a professional solvent test on a hidden area of every painted hull before our machines ever touch the boat. This allows us to accurately identify the specific type of paint system:

• Single-Pack (1-Part Paint): Much softer and highly sensitive to heat and friction. It requires ultra-fine pads and low-speed settings to avoid burning the finish.
• Two-Pack (2-Part Paint): Considerably harder and more resilient, allowing for a slightly more aggressive correction, though still requiring precise technique.

Zero-Filler Compounds & Eco-Friendly Polishes

Many standard compounds and polishes contain heavy chemical fillers. These fillers act like makeup, temporarily hiding light scratches and defects to imitate a brilliant finish that washes away after a few weeks.

• Our Promise: We only use premium, filler-free compounds. We genuinely correct the defects rather than just hiding them. While all marine surfaces naturally oxidise over time from UV sun exposure, our process ensures a true, deep gloss that lasts significantly longer.
• Eco-Friendly Care: We choose advanced formulas that are free from harsh, toxic solvents, protecting both your boat and the marine environment.

Machine Fleet: Tailoring the Tool to the Vessel

We reject the "one-size-fits-all" approach. Using an oversized or incorrect machine can easily cause gelcoat/paint burn-through or leave a sloppy, less-than-desirable finish in tight spaces. To prevent this, we operate a specialised fleet of rotary and dual-action (DA) polishing machines ranging from 1-inch up to 8-inches.

• 1-inch to 3-inch Micro-Polishing: Ideal for intricate areas like cleats, window frames, stanchions, coachroofs and tight corners.
• 4 -inch to 8-inch Correction Machines: Perfect for flat, wide expanses of the boat to ensure a perfectly flat, uniform gloss.

By fitting the tool to the specific area—rather than forcing the area to fit the tool—we produce a deep gloss finish across every square inch of your boat.
